Frequently asked questions
Does the other parent need to use HolosCognitive too?
+
No. One Family subscription is enough for both households. HolosCognitive is designed to function fully from a single account — you set up the custody calendar, member profiles, and meal plan from your account, and the system accounts for the other household's schedule through the custody pattern you configure. If the other parent wants their own access, they can be added as a co-user under the same Family plan, but it's not required for the system to function correctly.
What custody schedule patterns does HolosCognitive support?
+
HolosCognitive supports weekly alternating, every-other-week, 2-2-3 rotating, and fully custom two-week custody patterns. Holiday and school-year schedule overrides can be layered on top of the base pattern. The system also handles split-sibling arrangements where different children follow different schedules. Once configured, the custody calendar automatically adjusts the meal plan, grocery list quantities, and allergen filtering based on exactly who is home each night.
Does the meal plan automatically adjust when kids are at the other household?
+
Yes. The meal plan generates headcount dynamically from the custody calendar for each night of the week. If three kids are home Monday but only one is home Wednesday, the plan sizes meals and ingredient quantities accordingly. Allergen profiles are applied per present household member — if a child with a tree nut allergy is at the other household, dishes with tree nuts can appear for the nights they're away. Leftovers are chained across the week and proportioned to the actual household size each night.
Can each child have their own allergen and dietary restriction profile?
+
Yes. Every household member — adult or child — has their own food profile that includes allergens, intolerances, and dietary preferences. The AI never suggests a meal that conflicts with any profile belonging to a member who is home that night. Profiles support all common allergen categories (gluten, dairy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, shellfish, fish) plus custom free-text restrictions. You can update profiles at any time, and the change takes effect on the next meal plan generation.
How does the Family plan work if we live in two separate households?
+
The Family plan is tied to a single subscription with up to 2 AI-seat users (full adaptive planning) and 6 manual-seat users. Both parents can hold AI seats under one subscription and access the shared custody calendar, meal plan, and household members from their own devices. Data stays within the plan — neither parent sees the other's individual goals, capacity states, or personal scaffold history. Only the shared family features are visible to both accounts.
Does HolosCognitive integrate with OurFamilyWizard or TalkingParents?
+
Not currently via direct API. HolosCognitive syncs with Google Calendar, Outlook, and Apple iCal — which covers most custody calendar exports from co-parenting platforms. If your custody schedule lives in a shared external calendar, that calendar can be connected read-only to HolosCognitive, and the custody pattern will be inferred from the event data. Direct API integration with co-parenting platforms is not currently available but is on the roadmap.
Can I use HolosCognitive without the co-parenting features?
+
Yes. The co-parenting features — custody schedules, two-household coordination, split-sibling tracking — are all optional. A Family plan used by a single-household family uses the allergen-safe meal planning, Walmart grocery ordering, and shared goals without any custody configuration. A co-parent who only wants the cognitive scaffold and calendar management can use the Personal plan without family features entirely. Every feature in HolosCognitive is opt-in.
